Paying before interest is added?

Hi

I have not had a credit card for many years and can't really remember how the interest works.... I have not got a good credit rating (from a number of years back) but I have just been accepted for a Vanquis card, now I know this is a high APR but I want to try and improve my credit rating over the next few years.

Is what I was wondering is... say, for example I spent £100 on CC would it be possible to pay some (ie £50) off that balance before the statements are sent out therefore only have the interest calculated on the remainder?

Also how long before the statements come out would I need to have paid some off and would this count as the monthly payment or would I then need to make the payment as set out on the statement?

Thanks Melx

If you want to inprove your credit rating and pay no interest then simply spend what you can afford to repay and set up a DD to repay the full amount by the due date.

This way you pay no interest, never miss a payment by accident and your credit file will show your responsible handling of the account.

    Interest is calculated daily.
