ASDA charged me twice

As the title says, I went shopping on Friday evening, paid by debit card. Checked online banking tonight to discover we have been charged the total bill twice.
I know I need to go to customer services in the morning ,got receipt ,bank statement etc. but does anyone know how long it takes for asda to refund a mistake like this?It has left us a bit short this week!
Thanks

Have both amounts debited your account or are they both still authorisations ?

Both still pending but I would like it sorted before two lots of money actually goes from my account. Are they likely to correct it before then?
I`m just going by what I found on asda`s site-it said if you`ve not realised you`ve been overcharged until after you have left the store, then go to customer service desk with your receipt and bank statement where it will be sorted out.
I don`t want to wait until they do actually take the money ,which could be a few days, when I could hopefully stop one of the payments going through before then.
In the meantime it has left us with about £30 in the bank until the end of the week!

It's likely one transaction will drop off.

If not, I doubt Asda will do anything until both have left pending items and appear as actual transactions.

    Pretty much.

It's possible for Asda to cancel the rogue authorisation but you'll likely be stonewalled by them. It's probably something only head office can do.

Your bank can also "remove" the authorisation (it'll still exist but won't affect your available balance) but front-line staff usually don't have the ability and those that do are reluctant to do it. I did it once or twice for customers, but only when it was clear it was a duplicate and they were left penniless if I didn't.

Customer service have given me a printout of the transaction that shows only one payment was taken, she did say it was unusual it didn`t show on the receipt.
She has suggested going to the bank and explaining what happened, showing them the paperwork, then hopefully they will release the money back into our account, once they can see that Asda won`t take it.
    Fingers crossed!
