Hopefully someone can help.
I've got something strange going on with my PC. When I click on the Google icon, i'm getting redirected to Yahoo. The default browser is set to Google in the settings.
We have also had two phonecalls this week from someone saying they were from Microsoft with the usual "you have a virus on your computer". I've now blocked all incoming calls from international numbers. On one of the phonecalls, the person on the end said "this is not a joke you mother******* and then hung up.
I have McAfee and this is saying that it has removed a virus recently and I've tried to run System Restore and I cannot go back to before the "virus" entered my system.
I don't have anything on the PC that's vital but I do use it for my email accounts. I'm thinking of wiping it but I'm not sure how you do this when you do not get the discs for the operating system anymore.
Not sure where to go from here so any advice would be very much appreciated.

what's does the google icon point to, google is a website not a browser
go into all your browsers, and reset the homepage and default search engine to www.google.co.uk
phonecall is not relevant, just scammers reading a script
if mcafee caught a virus, it's should be dealt with, and therefore wiping it is not necessary. Read the instructions on how to factory restore your machine if you really want to go ahead with it, it will probably delete all your data too, if the email is stored locally, you'll need to back it up
yahoo redirect usually starts after installing a toolbar or messenger or suchlike, so uninstall whatever did the changeDon't you dare criticise what you cannot understand0 -
Sounds as if something has reset your homepage. You should be able to reset this to Google by going to "Internet Options" in your browser.
There is a thread about the scam Microsoft calls here:
