Hi,
What is the difference between prompting to undertake a journey to needing another person to carry out a journey?
If an applicant needs to be taken from point a to point b would this come under needing another person?
Thanks

11 a. Can plan and follow the route of a journey unaided. 0 points
11 b. Needs prompting to be able to undertake any journey to avoid overwhelming psychological distress to the claimant. 4 points
11 c. Cannot plan the route of a journey. 8 points
11 d. Cannot follow the route of an unfamiliar journey without another person, assistance dog or orientation aid. 10 points
11 e. Cannot undertake any journey because it would cause overwhelming psychological distress to the claimant. 10 points
11 f. Cannot follow the route of a familiar journey without another person, an assistance dog or an orientation aid. 12 points
"an applicant needs to be taken from point a to point b"
This would come under F which is scored at 12 points.
In the PIP form you would write this as:
Person X has such a bad disability that they require a carer to assist them in journeys which they are familiar with.
...................................................................................
Note:
You need to use the correct words here because all it takes is the wrong word 'unfamiliar' for Person X to get less points.
You would then add reasons for this. Lets say the person has severe Autism for example.
.....................................................................................
Person X has severe Autism that creates sensory problems in hearing & vision which makes it very uncomfortable for them to take individual journeys alone They need another person to guide them in areas such as pavements, roads and populated areas where Person X is a danger to others and their self. This happens 100% of the time.
Person X also has delusions and learning difficulties. Person X isn't aware of surrounding dangers and sometimes Person X's delusions can influence them to do out of the ordinary things. This also happens 100% of the time.
......................................................................................
Note:
You need to specify the proportion of time a person is inflicted by their disability relating to certain activities.
You then need to add relevant medical evidence and add a reference to where the DWP assessor can find this evidence.
.......................................................................................
Person X disability is Severe Autism. On Page Y Fig Z you can read the Doctor & Psychologist reports.
......................................................................................
I am disabled myself and that is how you have to write on those forums. Basically write in a orderly fashion and don't leave anything out.
