Switching from Citibank - not part of the 7 day switch scheme

I signed up for a new Barclays account online and was accepted. I got to the switching part of the process, entered my Citibank details; then a message came up next to the sort code saying "your bank does not support the 7 day switch guarantee" or something similar. The only option I had was to cancel the switch.
Does anyone know what the switching process will be like in this case? Everywhere I have looked online, people seem to have collective amnesia regarding what things were like before the new switch guarantee - there is no information out there.

Presumably you have to do the 'switch' yourself.
Open new account; get Direct Debits changed, set up Standing Orders again and give your new account details to whoever pays money in to your account.
Direct Debit are particularly tricky because they can take a while get get changed, so you'll need to monitor things closely and ensure there's money in your old account to cover them.
Does your old account have a fee? If not, I would keep it open indefinitely. Otherwise keep it open for at least two months.
The switching guide tells you what the switching process offers. These are the things you'll have to do yourself.0 -
If you cancelled the switch you will have to do everything yourself, like SnowTiger says. However, some banks are still willing to process a switch under the old scheme, which was in place before the 7 day switch came into force. Barclays call this a partial switch, as opposed to a full switch. It's similar in that it transfers your standing orders and direct debits, but it doesn't come with any guarantee and it doesn't close your old bank account or re-direct any one-off payments:
