Child Trust Funds

I was wondering if anyone knew which is the best Child Trust Fund to go with? I want to open one for my 10 month old son but am finding it a bit of a mine field!

Thanks for your help!!

    The CTF's don't really come into being (deposit of Gov't cash) until April 2005, and I would imagine there will be a spate of launches nearer that time.

    I have a 5 month old daughter and am also looking out to see what happens.  In the meantime we have been using some of our stocks/ shares ISA allowance to invest some money on her behalf (all under our name but it is allocated for her)

    Funnily enough I posted a reply to a very similar question today on the "Stakeholder Pension ...... for a child" thread.  You may want to read some comments on there as well.

    there are some threads on CTF over the last few months for reference.

    The product can still be changed before launch and anything available now is a pre-CTF product that is based on what the provider believes the CTF is going to look like. Additionally, any product available now is not going to benefit from the tax advantages offered by the CTF. The only ones that can come close to that are friendly societies and their monthly premium is limited. The Govt paid chunk would not be able to go into that plan either.

    So, you are better off waiting. Dont stop saving, just dont commit yourself to a new savings plan when you know there is a new scheme coming out in just over 6 months.

  • Thanks for your help and sorry for the delay in replying. I have contacted a couple of Friendlys and they are sending me their bumpf so will have a look but probably wait a bit as advised.

    Thanks again. ::)
