How to find out who owns Land used for parking spaces

I am trying to ascertain who owns the land used for Car Parking It is in front of a recreation ground and a private sports Club. It also by Housing Association Properties. So theoretically the parking area could belong to the Coucil, the Sports Club or the Housing Association. How do I find out who owns and is responsible for this area. Land registry is no good as it only covers housing. Any suggestions please. Thank you

I would call the Council first, followed by the Housing Association and then the Sports Club. If the Council own it they will most likely tell you, the HA and the Sports Club are more likely to ignore you but they may tell you. If none of them own it then it potentially isn't easy.

If the land is registered with Land Registry they will have a record and you can find ownership as I have done it for development land. Not all land is registered though.

They may want to know why you're enquiring and may be less helpful if they don't like your reason for asking.

Land registry covers ALL registered land, from houses to a 1m x 1m ransom strip.

The search is easier for houses as you have an address, but an Index Map search will provide details for land without addresses.

However Council first. They will be able to tell you if they own it, but also if they ever did and who they sold it to.
