Getting compensation from Scottish Power for poor customer service

S.P. said claim was closed because they had resolved all issues and advised me to got to Ombudsman which I rejected on the basis of making my case thro small claims court.
My suggestion is that you follow SP's suggestion and take your complaint to the Ombudsman. My reason for saying this is because it gives you two chances at getting a satisfactory result. And the first chance (via the Ombudsman) does not involve paying any fees.
This is because if you are unhappy with the Ombudsman's decision you can reject it and then still take legal action. (However you cannot do the converse. If you start legal action you can never take that complaint to the Ombudsman.)
[My view is I doubt a court will agree to your circa £2000 claim or even the £500 claim unless you can show you have suffered this monetary loss. And I doubt a court will accept SP agreed to your charges. So personally I don't think I would risk the court fees.]0 -

Good suggestion thanks.
Just need to check that I'm not time barred from Ombudsman option.0 -
Ok. You need to take this to the ombudsman.
Also, make sure you are on a decent tariffs. I do mine with SP every three months. They give you the facility when you log inn0 -
All this guff about £2k compensation weakens your hand OP, it doesn't strengthen it. We aren't in the US of A, and "compensation" is only available to compensate for actual monetary loss suffered. I simply don't believe you've lost £2k.
Go back to the ombudsman, and stick to the facts. It helps if you're clear and concise, and they do occasionally give baffling decisions. Good luck!0 -
Go to the Ombudsman, as I did, and you will get £75. However, it is also logged as another complaint against SP. The only time I had good service from SP is when I left and they paid my credit back quickly.
Your claim for compensation is unreasonable (but I understand your anger -- been there) and will be rejected by a small claims court. I advise leaving them, and finding a more competent supplier.Je suis sabot...0 -
Wrong word only compensation should be financial award.
Everything is factual although substantially abbreviated
Thanks for good luck wishes(if not said with tongue in cheek)0 -
After 18 months of trying to get SP to put back our Direct Debits i had no choice but get in contact with Ombudsman.
Nearly 9 months into Ombudsman SP let us off £1500 from our gas/electric bill plus £75 compensation.0
