DVD Recorder Problem!

I have a problem with DVD Recorder.
It is a Panasonic DMR-ES10EB model that I bought in the summer of 2005.
Unfortunately, while using the machine with a fairly new Panasonic DVD-RAM disc that had already been used for several recordings this morning, the machine has continually refused to eject the disc.
It goes through a 'hello', 'self-check' and 'bye' process several times and then finally stops with a U99 display on it's LCD screen.
This process occurs every time I press the on/off button on the machine.
Is this a machine fault, a disc fault or both?
I would like any relevant technical advice if possible or does this require immediate repairs.

the obvious thing to try is a new disc. If it spits that out with an error, try a different format (DVD-RW or DVD+R or whatever it takes). If it spits that out too, try turning the machine off and on again and try again. If that doesn't work, it is probably the machine.
Try here http://www.avforums.com/forums/showthread.php?t=409476 for more advice. It doesn't specifically mention U99 but it does seem relevant.
