When I last logged into Sky, on the My Offers tab, I was offered half price movies for 6 months at £8.50 a month for six months. I thought I'd stick it on for December and January so we can watch films over Christmas. It went through the checkout process at £8.50 a month and I was given no warning that I can recall that the actual price may be different.
Just got the bill and I've been charged £17 a month for it.
I rang and queried it last night and was told that I'm not entitled to the half price movies. When the prices went up earlier in the year, I rang up to change my package and they offered a £2 a month loyalty discount until March 2016. Apparently because of the £2 discount, that means I'm not entitled to the half price movies offer.
I'm annoyed as they offered it to me on my personalised page and I signed up without knowing I wasn't entitled to it. I have to give 30 days notice to cancel it, so I'm stuck with paying full price for it. I wouldn't have bought it if I'd known I would have to pay full price.
Has this happened to anyone else?

Yes, I had the same problem. I already have Sky Sports so I can have the Movies for £9 a month but then saw the half price offer so it would be £4.50 a month extra.
When I tried to add it to my account it was coming up that it would be £10 extra a month?! Even without the half price offer offer it should only be £9 a month and not £10!
I spoke to Sky on Chat and they said that because I have a reduced rate on my Sky Sports of £5.50 a month off - when I took out the Sky Movies package, it removed my discount on Sky Sports.
So I was getting Sky Movies at half price for £4.50 but they added the £5.50 a month back on for the Sports discount so actually costing me £10 extra.
As I only wanted the Movies for Christmas I asked them to keep my sports discount and I'll pay the extra £9 a month for Movies.
At least mine showed up on the checkout page when I tried to add it to my account so I could query it. It's not helpful that yours didn't!

It didn't show up on the checkout page and went through at £8.50 and the new monthly charge was £8.50 more.
I can't recall seeing anything in the small print about if you already have an offer. I can just remember the 6 month term and 30 days notice bit.
I'll give them a ring later on.Here I go again on my own....0 -
what did the small print say
Its not so small i have just had a quick look and it states that it can't be used with any other offer. This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -

Can I recommend you go with now tv: sky movies are only £9.99 a month with no contract. You can pick up a now tv box for about £5 second hand.
Sky have this stupid rule where they allegedly can't apply 2 discounts at once unless it's the retentions team. We've just left sky - well given them notice on tv but keeping broadband and phone. They've ended up giving us 2 months free phone and broadband plus £30 M&S voucher because of a mistake they made after we gave notice. From the retentions team. Xxx0 -

i had the same issue! i have a deal on my sky sports but when i went in "offers for you" it said half price movies so i added it and then noticed it was full price!
Called up and after some back and forth ( i said i would cancel movies and sports ) she agreed to let me have both half price. Just say that "your offers" in your account should have been available to...well you haha and say it was misleading...soon as i said that she went away and came back with the positive result0 -
I rang back to cancel the movies off and was put through to retentions. She asked why and I said I was unhappy as it shouldn't have let me go right through the checkout process at half price if I wasn't entitled to it. She agreed it shouldn't have done that and said she would review my account and see what she could do.
She asked some questions to make sure that I was using and needed everything I have with them (TV, phone and fibre broadband). She said I was definitely on the right package and if I keep the movies on, she would discount the package by £20 a month for 10 months. ResultHere I go again on my own....0 -

That's great news - and at least next time you'll remember to read what you're signing up to0
