Unemployed - mortgage paid off

Options
I was made redundant over a year ago and have (so far) managed to keep my head above water while job-hunting. The majority of my redundancy was used to clear my mortgage, and the property is valued at around £80000.

Other than taking a secured loan or selling the house, does anyone know of any options available to me until/if I get back into employment? I would be looking for £5000 - £10000.

Thanks in advance.

Those who lend to the unemployed don't tend to have very atractive terms.

Are there absolutely no jobs available in your area? I would take ANY job just to get some money coming in. Being in work will help you get a loan at better rates and look better when applying for jobs too.

I know what I would do if I had no mortgage or commitments. Rent and travel!!! LOL - Would be nice to be sat on a beach somewhere in thailand with cheap living costs and someone paying me to do it!

Seriously - I would go and get a minimum wage job if that what it takes to get you going. You can always apply for better jobs and inevitably you will find it easier to get a job whilst employed than not. You have a good reason for doing what yoo have had to do and most sensible employers will recognise this fact. You may not need the loan full stop then if you were needing it for living costs.
