Fitted Kitchen cabinet sizes?

Options
OK ..heres my problem...

I am in the proccess of planning a new kitchen, to be fitted by myself.
the width of the room as I measure it is 239cm across the bottom of the U.

its a U shape by the way,,,

at the moment this end of the kitchen has the following units fitted.

100cm as a corner unit.
60 cm as a sink support and cupboard
freestanding diswhasher
then another 100cm unit as a corner.

I want to keep the same layout but replace the dishwasher with an integrated one,(still the same size).

My problem is that all the planning software I try and use says this combo wont fit... and so wont let me put the units where I want to..

But I DOES fit its already there.....

Does anyone know the REAL dimentions of these carcases (front to back) and how easy they might be to make shallower if I need too.?

the present units are pretty tight in the corner and there are some issues with handle collision, but I am worried that modern units may have got deeper.(like IKEA)..
MFI toscana is specificaly what I would like... anyone have any experience with this one...???

I think yuo have made a mistake somewhere or are not explaining it very well. You have 239cm width to play with and say that there are 2 corner units of 100cm each. This eats up 200cm already, leaving only 39cm.

Are you sure you have given the correct dimensions?

sorry I will try to explain better..

the 100 cm corner units are at 90 degrees to the 60 cm sink and the 60 cm dishwash.

so they actually run along the 2 sidewalls, but the ends of them form the supports for the worktop right into the corner of the room....
they are really standard 100cm twin door units with one door missing (the half that is tucked into the corner).

this is the dimention thet I cant find on the MFI website. front to back depth of the unit.... mine obviously fit, but the electronic planner they supply says it cant be done.

If you live somewhere with a DIY store in reasonable distance, why not make use of their free designer service? My brother has just had a very good design from MFI, and I had one from B & Q last year. There was no obligation to get the units from them, and when the chap came out to our house he had a couple of good ideas that I hadn't thought of. The planner software seems to have limitations that the designers don't have.

    Hi

What depth of unit and worktop do you currently have?

thanks BK .I didnt realize they came to the house..
Last time I did this was years ago and the designer/kid in the shop was next to useless...
If they come out I might have a better experience.

  • If yuo take the two corner units are being 59cm then I can see why the planner is borking on this - 59 x 2 = 118 take this from 239 and you are left with 121cm.
So as you say they do in fact fit (just) The problem is that the programme is only going to let you put in 60cm units and so you are a cm short??

The trick is to lie about your room and tell the computer it is actually 240 wide!

Most kitchen units are fairly easy to cut down a little - IKEA ones less so.

    Hi
The reason I ask is that
the present units are pretty tight in the corner
If they are that tight then you won't get 60cm they should be 10cm from the corner.I must be missing something.

We have reduced the depth of Ikea units a few times now.

  • Thanks canuckle head....
I have decided to fit slightly smaller units now,
otherwise I will have problems with handle collision.
I think the person who fitted my current kitchen (previous tenant) used the largest units he could squeeze in... they have recessed handles so it is not an issue with these units.
I am willing to sacrifice a little cupboard space to make the "fit" look right.

    Thanks again....(wink)
