Repaired watch returned damaged

Hi, my wife bought an expensive watch (online) for me in August and put it away until our anniversary in October. After a couple of days I noticed the day indicator part of the watch was not working, we took it to the online shop showroom where they said it would be sent to the manufacture for repair. The watch was returned with the defective part now working but it has been scratched both on the watch face and on the case, the presentation box is also scratched. I informed the shop and they sent a returns label. The shop has now sent the watch back to the manufacture for assessment before they decide what action they will take. I realise I missed out on the 30 day return and the watch was repaired but do we have to wait for the manufactures decision as our contract is with the shop, and realistically what outcome can we expect?

30 days returns window....what do you mean by that?
If purchased after 1st October, the 30 days relates to the consumer being able to insist on a refund if the goods are faulty - it does not mean that you can only get a remedy (repair, replace or refund) within 30 days.
What outcome you're likely to get will depend on the damage and whether its repairable. If a repair is possible, they will likely opt for this. What should not happen is you otherwise being worse off due to their breach. They should be putting you in the same position you would have been in had the breach not occurred. You keep using that word. I do not think it means what you think it means - Inigo Montoya, The Princess Bride0 -
As stated the watch was bought in August and returned more than 30 days after buying,my question is do I have to wait for the watch manufacture to report back to the shop before I get any decision from the shop?0
