Hot water pressure too high on kitchen tap.

Hi all, we've recently moved house and the mixer tap in the kitchen is far too powerful, but only the hot water. It looks like one of these https://cdn.plumbnation.co.uk/site/sagittarius-contract-monobloc-kitchen-sink-mixer-tap-co-152-c/large-co152c.jpg Only not as shiny (I think it's 20 years old or something)
I had a little tinker with it, and took the end out of the spout, the hot water comes through a smallish tube into the middle of the spout, the cold water just comes through the spout.
Sorry I'm not doing a good job of describing this, I have no idea of the terminiology. Suffice to say that having the hot water squirting out so fast and splashing everywhere makes me even more reluctant to do the dishes - I didn't think that was possible. :rotfl:
All the other taps in the house are fine, so I am assuming that it is something to do with that weird little tube, but I don't want to tinker further in case I flood the joint or something. But I get the feeling that this is one of those things I could solve myself for a few quid, rather than have to pay someone a call out charge. Or have to replace the whole tap - kind of strapped for cash (as usual)
Any ideas or advice would be greatly appreciated

If it's a recent install, there may well be a little isolation valve in the pipe leading to the tap - probably under the sink. They normally have a screwdriver slot, rather than a conventional handle.
If so, you may be able to slow down the flow just by partially turning off the isolator. If it sticks, force it.
If it breaks, well it wasn't working right anyway.0 -
You can fit a flow restrictor like these http://www.robertpearson.co.uk/products/water-flow-regulators/Some people don't exaggerate........... They just remember big!0

as mentioned above first thing to look for is an isolating valve like the one i have linked to, if you have one of these then a slot screwdriver will allow you to partially restrict the flow as a quick fix0 -
There is a big shiny knob at the bottom of the tap that comes in very handy to adjust the amount of water that comes outI'm only here while I wait for Corrie to start.
You get no BS from me & if I think you are wrong I WILL tell you.0
