Car Insurance Claim Hassle...

Hello All,

Can anyone please advise me on the following....

Someone went into the back of me on the motorway which resulted in a 4 car pile up. (Everyone was fine. No injuries).
The chap behind me has claimed Liability.

My car has damage to the rear and to the front. It went into an accident repair garage and the price they quoted to repair the car is more than what they value the car at.

I have the receipt for the car which is a sports model from 8/9 months ago for £4700. The Insurance company are arguing the car is only worth £3250 and are refusing to give me any more.
I have refused this offer twice and have insisted someone of a more managerial role in the company revalue it. But time is ticking on its been over 2 weeks now without a car.
(They gave me a courtesy car for a week but its now gone back).

Basically I want what i believe is a True value of the car and not what they say after typing it into 'Webuyanycar.com'

As it stands its gonna cost me about £1500 for me to buy a similar spec car.

Has anyone had an incident like this before, and can anyone advise me what to do next?

All comments, appreciated.

Trying to - have you read the link?
  • Yes, but like I said there is no mention of any fee.
I am well aware of companies that appear to be doing you a massive favour dealing with the legal side of things and then stumping you with a fee at the end which would bring me to the same point im at now.
It would drag on 6 months, Ill be no better off and the company make a grand.
Im asking you if you have used this company before? and if they charge a fee?
Why would they do it in the first place if they were not making any money?

They are the financial ombudsman. There is no fee. They resolve disputes between financial organisations and consumers. They issue guidance on subjects such as the link I gave.
  • Apologies, I haven't heard of this before. And am always weary.
I have dug into their website now and have found out all i need to.
Thank you for your help.I will file my complaint and Hopefully it will get sorted.
