RAC First Assist

Hi,
I am checking if anyone else has experienced payments being taken out of their bank account after their RAC insurance is cancelled.
I have changed my car insurance but noticed payments were coming out to something called 'RAC BGL'.
Enquiries to RAC have shown this is something that is initially offered for 'free' and is something called RAC First Assist. The RAC won't take ownership of my refund even though it is them I always contacted. I hope I have cancelled future payments despite a very pushy customer services person trying to discourage me.
I am still struggling to get my money back as BGL are shut in the evenings but I wondered if anyone else has the same experience and also to encourage people to check their bank accounts.
thanks

If this money has been wrongly taken via direct debit then your route is to tell your Bank that you want a refund in line with the direct debit guarantee.
Your Bank should immediately credit your account.
If they are actually entitled to the money they will have to convince your Bank!0 -

thanks for the advice. I just find it frustrating I was paying for something I didn't know I had (like another type of 'personal insurance' - as you say the bank has to pay me back if it's unauthorised0
