DIY party bags...help please

I love making up party bags! (I can take a theme to the Nth degree!!).
I have found the Rainbow sandwich bags you can get in Tesco or Home Bargains etc. (69p for 30), look nice tied with a curly ribbon, or hole punched with a gift tag attached.
When my older son was 2 he had a Noddy party and I made Noddy hats with a bell for each child! I must have had more energy in those days!:rotfl:
Pencils, rubbers, bubbles, balloons are all great. Punch balloons make a big impact if you have space and energy to blow them up before hand. Each child goes away merrily bashing the balloon! This year when my younger son was 6, I planned ahead and bought multi packs of planes and soldiers, (stereotyping I know!),for 10p each when Tesco were selling off their £1 ranges!
Chocolate biscuits are good fillers eg Penguins, Club , Timeout etc if they are on BOGOF at the supermarket. Also, a box of Celebrations shared between the bags can make it look a bit special.
Have fun!:jIn a world where you can be anything, be kind. (Caroline Flack)

If you want cheap and fun Tesco at the momment have plastic picnic cup reduced to 15p for 6 fill them up with home made popcorn and wrap in celophane with a curly bow.
Other ideas I have done in the past
Pencil case reduced in WH smiths filled with goodies ideal this time of year returning to school.
Small cupcakes with each childs name on and decorated wrapped in celophane.
Finger puppets
checkout boots for reduced smellies in their childrens range.0 -
Are you having a particular theme for the party? We went to a Mr Men party once and all the children were given a Mr Men book and a piece of cake which was lovely as it fitted in with the rest f the party really nicely.Mortgage Total: £51,549 / £75,000

Hi have you tried tridas for your bags. They do lovely white paper ones with either pink or blue printing on saying thank you for coming to my party or plain with personalised stickers . They are large and cheaper than the flimsy plastic ones. I used them lasy year and they looked great.
This year i got plastic beakers (from asda) Pricesses for girls and piarates for boys and filled them with pencils rubbers rulers sharpeners etc that i bought in big packs from poundland and split between them ( they are doing a great range of disney stuff just now.) Once filled i wrapped them in cellophane and tied them with curling ribbon and wrote each childs name on a balloon and attached it to the top.
Another one ( great if it is raning) instead of a party bag is to grab a whole load of cheap white t-shirts (asda and tesco basic kids ones are cheap)
and a couple of packs of t-shirt pens and get the kids to decorate them and take them home instead of a party bag. You could also use tshirt transfer paper and have the kids pics on or a standard one with your own message on but i find the kids love making them and its a great way to calm them down for half an hour before the mums and dads arrive to pick them up!!!
I honestly do have a life!!! I just love my party bags to be different.
Just an afterthought but try woolworths they have a big range of kids party and nursery rhyme cds just now at a pound each. They last a lot longer than a plastic yo yo !!!!!!!!!:AIt matters not how long a stars shines ,what is remembered is the brightness of it's light.
JAN Battle attacks cars, 3 VIP althletics tickets, fairtrade choccy .... yum

I like house elf's idea we bought the bags and attached them to baloons pink for girls etc and then filled them with sweets that we acutally got from TESCo's free pharmacy bags. I know they have some in at the moment for back to school ( there are two on offer) look on freebies website! We added lollipoops and also hired a face painting lady that I watched carefully and then bought a face painting book and next time just painted their faces and gave them a baloon and a picture of themselves(freebie camera ) and then did an e mail of the party newsletter. They all seemd to love it and have kept the newsletter going!!0

Morrisons do some nice sturdy gift bags 3 for £1 in the metallic colours, my local store always have the bottle style, but lack the more square style bags - I grab them when I can!
Great ideas for trying WHSmiths/supermarkets for their reduced 'back to school' range0 -
dd1 went to a party recently that was cowboy themed, and the girl's Dad took pictures of all the kids as they arrived, printed them out and stuck them on a small "wanted" poster he had printed out for them all earlier in the day (don't know where he got the template sorry). The kids thought they were marvellous!!
Anyway, they went down so well that for dd2's birthday party in a couple of weeks she is having a Dr Who themed party (I have tomboys what can I say!?!), and I have fiddled about with Word and fashioned these Tardis driving licences - am going to get dh to take the kids' pictures at her party and stick them on these whilst the party is in progress.
It's funny how these small printable things go down much better than the plastic tat you can get - and much cheaper as long as you have the time and patience to find or design some kind of theme fitting template!
