Hi all, Can anybody PLEASE help me get myself sorted ('probably not' my husband would say lol)We are going to Paris in a few weeks and are trying to find the best way to get from Charles De Gaulle airport to our hotel (Campanile Paris Tour Eiffel - 30, rue Saint Charles - 75015)I have looked into getting a shuttle bus from the airport to our hotel but a lot of people have said thats not a very good way to do it because a few of them are very unreliable. It was suggested to us to get the Air France shuttle from the airport to Montparnasse and then either train or taxi to the hotel. has anybody done this before? Any ideas how much it would cost on the air france shuttle or how much a taxi would be from Montparnasse to hotel?Another option we have come up with is the RER and after studying the map I have discovered that we can go from CDG airport on the blue line train to Defert Rochereau and then change trains and get on the green line to Dupleix.CAN ANYBODY HELP ME WITH AN IDEA OF HOW MUCH THE TRAIN FARES ARE??I really have no idea so I would appreciate any suggestions as to which is the best way to do it, shuttle or train, and any ideas of costs? Thanks for much, Lisa xx

Travel in Paris is SO SIMPLE!! Take the train as long as you don't have too much baggage and if you do then make sure it has wheels!
Here is the link to the Paris Metro (Tube/Underground/Subway or whatever you want to call it).

Yes, it's in French, but click on the British flag and just like magic it turns into English!
Buy Carnets (book of 10 tickets) for single journeys unless you know you plan to use public transport a lot in a day when there are Day and MultiDay passes available. To/From the airport you will need to buy different tickets as it's outstide the 3 zone Carnet validity. There are carnets that cover that far but you would be wasting your money unless you plan to expore the regions.
Also have a look at my favourite forum site, flyertalk at the France pages for further advice:

The route you have already found (RER B to Denfert Rochereau then change to #6 Direction Charles De Gaulle Etoile) is the quickest, however it does depend on how much luggage you have as that part of line #6 is elevated (great views!) so you will have a fair number of steps to carry suitcases down...I can't remember if there are any escalators there - Dupliex is an old station so the likelyhood is low! However I can't think of any other viable way that doesn't involve a longish walk for you - Paris metro is great, but there are often lots of steps!0

come out of the small terminal, bear right and there are bus stops, take the Roissybus to gare du nord and hop on the tube from there0

We used the Air France shuttle at CDG two weeks ago
costs about €14 per adult (one-way ticket) you can buy the tickets in the airport or on the bus. The shuttle counter is opposite all the car rental booths and the shuttle coaches are every 15-20 mins. Just make sure you stand at the right stop, the staff aren't always right and we missed a couple of coaches because of them.
A taxi may work out more expensive if it's just two of you. Oh, the metro, big no no if you're with luggage, I felt almost dead by the time I'd dragged our two cases up and down steps to the metro stations... I also got wedged in the automatic barriers but that's going off-topic0 -
If you're going to be travelling around a bit you can get a Paris Visite pass which not only covers all transport within Paris but also gives you discounts on museums etc

It is a very straightforward system to use by the way.0 -
WOWthank you soooo much for all your very helpful advice. We will only have 1 case for both of us and a hand luggage bag each, so shouldn't be too much of a problem with the metro/train. And I wont be carrying them up or down any stairs, I'll leave that up to my husband lolThanks again, you have all been a very big help xx0
