For breakfast I do like eggs on toast. They take the same time to cook as the toast takes to brown and the kettle to boil. I don't wash the frying pan just a quick wipe with paper towel and it's fine for next time. Heat kills bugs so it's fine.

Lunch usually comprises a bowl of home made soup (contains at least 3 of my 5 veggies a day) along a chunk of crusty bread. Plus maybe an apple or handful of berries (tree fruit contain less sugar).

    .

I am loving soup at the moment.
So filling for a relatively small amount of calories.
Even shop bought ones are quite low calorie.

Though I make my own. I get about 1kg of mix of onion, swede, parsnips, carrots. Boil with in about 750ml of water a little garlic, mustard, tomato puree and herb and spices.
Once veg is soft I get my stick blender out.
Hey presto 12 portions of veg in one meal for about 300-500 calories.
While still getting a good 15-20g of fibre and lots of vitamin & minerals.
It leaves me feeling quite full as its the same as eating 4 1/2 tins of soup in one go.

I like to keep a little fat on my frying pan as it stops thing from sticking.
Same with baking trays. Keep the fat on them so they do not stick.

The heat killing the bug is just a bonus. :)

I make gallons of soup every week, love it! You need to check out my soup thread on the OS board ;)

It can be as calorific as you want it, depending upon ingredients. In fact tomorrow, I'm going to cook HFW's famous "potato peeling soup" so money saving in the extreme! I dread to think how many potato peelings I shoved on the compost heap this past week when I could have made a perfectly delicious soup from them! :money:

If you have a decent non-stick frying pan you don't need any fat. I dry fry all my fried eggs (flip them over) and if I cook bacon then I'll use residual fat to also cook mushrooms.

Well some times I add a bit of double cream or olive oil.
The other day I added 200g of pancetta.
But I am 3,000kcals a day so can quite easily afford the kcals into my daily diet. But Probably not so wise for the OP.

I will have look on the soup thread.

I've just picked up 2kg of carrots for 20p and I can guarantee that I'll walk into *any* supermarket and pick up fresh coriander at bargain price too. So gallons of carrot & coriander soup for pennies per litre :money:

Just a splash of fat does no harm. I use organic rapeseed so less harmful chemicals on heating :)
