Hi all
after hours of searching we finally found a great looking holiday , in olu deniz , turkey , on http://http://www.yourholidays.com/default.asp
£658 Mavruka hotel , 2 adults , half board , 12/09 7 nights
The problem is , when you click to pay on line it says "sorry this function has been disabled , please call to book this holiday"
So , we called the 0800 number and after 5 minutes of ringing this bloke answers , he sounds like he`s been asleep , and more worryingly it sound slike he only just remebered what company he was when he answered , i asked him about the holiday , and something just didnt feel right , he said he would call me back regaridng transfers etc
So he calls me back and say ok i can have trnasfers IN the price and if i pay there and then on the phone he wont charge me the 2% fee for using a credit card ?!?
He then says give me a call on this number if you decide to take the holiday 0870 3209353
How coem its gone from a 0800 number to a 0870 ? , i just wanted you guys take no it because ive got visions of paying this fella £658 and NOTHING happening and never hearing anything again !
Would i be foolish to book this holiday over the phone with this guy , Ross ?
Any advice would be MUCH APPRECIATED !
Cheers
Dan

Sounds a bit dodgy to me. I would go with your gut instinct (which from your post sounds concerned) and avoid it.Now debtfree except for the mortgage!0

Don't know about the company, but Olu Deniz is fab.
The Olu Deniz resort Hotel & the Belzecki Beach hotel are great.0 -
Shows an ABTA number so that is verifiable.
When did you ring ? If it was out of hours or on Sunday or today it's possible you were diverted through to a home number for a member of staff or to a homeworker for the company.
2% for creditcard payment isn't bad-Going Places on the high street want 2.25% usually.
Of course anyone can put up a decent looking website but you can google the company name and see what comes up and verify the ABTA number with a simple search.
Run the basic checks and see what your gut feeling is like then.I Would Rather Climb A Mountain Than Crawl Into A Hole
MSE Florida wedding .....no problem0 -
I am sure Yourholidays is part of Hays Travel and as duchy said it could of been one of their homeworkers.
Saying that if after all the checks etc you are still uncertain go with your instincts and stay well clear."Life is not measured by the breaths we take, but by the moments that take our breath away."0 -

they will waive the 2% duchy , thats one of the reasons i was dubious , i didnt think it was a money making thing so why waive it ?0 -
Seems genuine enough company. They also have a call back service where you put in your phone numb er and they phone you back.
I have never heard of that hotel in olu deniz mind you and I have been there loads of times.Maybe it's new though.travelover0 -
es does appear to be brand new hoteltravelover0

I wonder does your credit card give you cover for purchases such as this?
Mine gives an element of holiday insurance and will also cover me if I am ripped off (I actually thought they all did). Might be worth contacting your credit card company with your concerns and asking them what would happen in the event that this was a con. If you're covered it would at least remove some of the risk.If you see someone without a smile.Give them yours :A
Debt free - as long as you don't count my student loan0 -
The travel agent I always use works for Hayes and yes they are mainly homeworkers. All call go via the switch which is an 0800 number but then if you want a direct number to book it either converts to a 0870 number or their home number. If you call the same 0800 number againm you would get a different agent and then they would lose outIf you look anything like your passport photo....Your too ill to travel0

I saw a holiday on the teletext earlier on and the holiday provider was yourholidays. You probably just got to speak to a dopey sounding home worker.0
