parking ticket... but paid for parking...

Hello... I've read the instructions on the sticky but just wanted to check in with the experts before embarking on that path, as I did actually pay for a ticket using my phone, but not immediately (full story below...)
I dropped my phone as I was getting the car today and didn't think too much of it as I was rushing and just stuffed it in my bag. I drove to the train station to park and realised, to my horror, that my phone was smashed!! I couldn't get it to work immediately to pay for parking by phone and didn't have £5.50 in change to pay in cash. The only type of parking available to purchase was 'all day' at this price. Anyway, I took note of the pay number and got on the train, reasoning that I could borrow my friend's phone when I got into London. By the time I got into London, 45 minutes later, I had managed to get my phone working enough to be able to call and pay for the parking.
I returned to my car, 7 hours later, to find I had been issued with a ticket about 6/7 minutes after parking up. The reason stated on the ticket is that I failed to display a valid ticket or voucher. Which would be impossible anyway, since I paid by phone. I paid for the whole day as well, so it would have been impossible to pay for any lesser amount of time or overstay. It's a private company, working on behalf of the railway.
thank you in advance for your help!

Welcome!
Same answer as most other private parking thread queries.
Start by reading the NEWBIES thread. Go there now.
NEWBIES thread is near or at the top of the forum and you can hop there by using the FORUM JUMP on the right and click 'GO'. Your first appeal is written for you. DO NOT NOT NOT write about what happened.
Around day 20 - or if posting this month, around day 15 as it will get delayed - send the first appeal template (nothing more, no sentences to add, just your name and address as KEEPER).
If the PPC allow online or emailed appeals (see the PCN) you can actually follow the NEWBIES advice and appeal around day 25 because email/online appelas are immediate. The aim is that the PPC gets the appeal from the registered keeper (NOT THE DRIVER) just before day 28 for very good reasons.
Which PPC is it (see NEWBIES thread for the acronyms explained).
Please note: I am NOT involved in any 'paid for' appeals service.PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).
