Hi, glad to see you seem to be working it out, you can't live with someone and not have some of your 'mse' ways rub off on them at least a little bit.
Re the sofa, I got these from ebay for less than £150 including the van hire. http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&rd=1&item=280136320122&ssPageName=STRK:MEWN:IT&ih=018 - they're very comfy and as they're only 2 years old they should last us a good few years until we can afford to buy new. Its worth keeping an eye out for a few weeks to see if theres anything you like on there.0 -
I really don't mean this to sound harsh but I wonder if you are indulging him too much when you say 'he does pay me back'. Evidence points to the contrary as he still owes you... what was it, £2800?? I really don't think you should lend him any more money until he has paid it all back. He is using you like an overdraft.
That would be bad enough in itself if you didn't have debts/things to pay but as you do, and your job is not secure, stop lending money to him NOW!
I mean this as kind advice, not to be nasty, but I feel strongly that bailing him out doesn't help in the long run
