Next day delivery item still isnt there 9 days later and says Thursday

I sent a parcel Monday last week, I knew it wouldnt be picked up by courier till Tuesday but tracking never updated at all until today when it says its on its way back to me and will be delivered Thursday.

I contacted the company I paid multiple times in last week and got nowhere with promises of they will check or it will be collected that day.

I still dont know its its being returned to me Thursday or onto person I sent it to since some parcels are sent as "returns" by these cheap courier companies.

Either way if it is delivered on Thursday its 8 days after the correct date so what can I do?

    What exactly does the tracking say? It does sound like it is being returned to you. You need to establish the reason for this. If it is the fault of the courier you'll be able to reclaim the cost of sending it.

    Also on the additional info it says collection date of today

    It appears they have not been able to deliver it. Perhaps part of the label has come off or the postcode is incorrect. I would wait until it is back with you and then, if the reason is not self evident, ask DPD to investigate further and refund if appropriate.

    I put the address on a seperate hand written label and put that on so it cant be a address issue, the only thing I thought was the label wasnt printed that well as my printer doesnt print barcodes very well but if thats the case why not say sooner, and postcode is correct.

    if the parcel was to be delivered to someone else why do they say they will notify you when it is ready for you to collect?
