G24 - confused about where to start?

Hi all, am new to the forum so please bear with me!

This afternoon I received a parking charge notice from G24 stating that I had overstayed in a car park in Freeport shopping village in Braintree, Essex.
The notice features all the usual things you'd expect, pics of my car entering/exiting the car park, closeups of number plates, times etc.

I've read the newbies thread but to be honest all the abbreviations etc confused me! And I don't know where I stand with what type of company G24 are and where I would start with appealing. When I first googled the company every result came up telling me to just ignore them, but having seen some of the newer posts about them it seems appealing is my best option.

So here is the information I have on the location: Freeport allows 6 hours of free parking, after which point you apparently have to go to the tourist information centre to extend your parking to avoid a fine (it states this on the website)
The picture of me entering the car park was taken at 2:16pm on a Saturday, which would mean I was able to park for free until 8:16pm that evening.
On the day in question, the shopping centre, including the tourist information centre closed at 7pm. So how would I have been able to extend my parking? The only reason I stayed there as late as I did was because after shopping we went to a restaurant in the same area.

I'm also unsure, if I were to appeal to the retailer, who exactly I would need to speak to. I have receipts of the shopping I did but they are all from different shops, so would I need to contact Freeport itself? Or just get straight on to G24?

Sorry for the inane questions but I really need someone to just dumb it down for me regarding where I stand/what to put in a letter/email.

Thank you in advance :D

    Frustration....of contract.

There is an obligation on anyone that wants to stay to go to the TIC - but they failed to allow you to do that - either by their own knowledge that the TIC closes or by failing to provide a key element of their contractual responsibilities.

Put in a challenge to G24 highlighting the nonsense of the situation and copy in Freeport's Managing Agents pointing out the stupidity of the arrangements there and question the competency of G24's parking management..

Thanks for the reply - would you suggest using a template of some sort, or just a straightforward correspondence?
  • Take a look at TripAdvisor.

There are several complaints about parking.

However, please rest assured for genuine customers with proof of shopping in centre, any fines received are always cancelled.

Why not just Google 'IPC AOS' and 'BPA AOS' if not sure what type of company G24 are? Then follow the NEWBIES thread advice - clue, don't appeal this one beyond first stage - but do complain to the retail Store Managers or the site Manager.

The newbies thread already has a template for first appeal but personally I wouldn't appeal a IPC one from G24. PLease read the NEWBIES thread again when less rushed, it has all the acrinyms and the search I suggested is the easy way to find out which 'side' the PPC is on....either the dark side or the 'very dark side'.

Please note - I am not involved in any 'paid for' appeals service.
PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

Thank you for taking the time to reply.

I was fairly vague about how much I'd read in the newbies thread but please rest assured it wasn't a quick skim read. I read through pretty much every link on there.

Having looked them up, I see that G24 are an IPC company, something which the newbies thread encourages to start a new thread about as they are more complicated to deal with?

I have started out by sending an email to Freeport customer services, as they do state on many trip advisor comments that genuine customers will have their fines cancelled. I have receipts to prove I was shopping there on the day in question so hopefully it won't need to be taken any further than that.

Thanks all again for your responses.
