My 9 year old had been bought a tab. (We didn't really want her to have one yet.)
However, I am fairly limited in my knowledge of android tabs.
I would like something which would filter all internet access. For example, she has asked to look up sites related to fossils and has asked to access youtube to watch ballet videos.
At the moment, we do this together, which is fine. However, I would prefer to have some sort of filter as well. I have spent some time browsing the internet and I am befuddled at the amount of apps out there.
Can any of your good people recommend me anything? I am happy to purchase it if it does the job. Thanks in advance.

You could set up filters etc on your router as I am gussing the tablet is wifi only.
Take a look at the link below as it gives you sort of advice/information that should help give you piece of mind

Many thanks Somerset and benje, both of those are really helpful. Filters on the router is totally new to me but looks useful.0

your isp should have a free parental control option that filters out most of the inappropriate content before it gets to the router, so it covers all devices in the house without the need for an app.

https://www.opendns.com/home-internet-security/ is great for this and free for the first 3 devices on your network. It is easy to set up. Also the strength grading of the filters is easily adjustable.0

Definitely set it up at the ISP level. We're on Virgin and it has a great configuration page for it all.0
