My son goes to college full time, and would like to know if there's a way to get a student discount on websites and in shops.. is there a free way without paying for a card?

Some places will offer a discount on production of a student ID card but it'll be up to the retailer/provider whether they do this - even as a 50 year-old postgraduate I got a discount on haircuts and on glasses that I bought from Vision Express. Best thing is for him to ask before buying, if you don't ask you don't get.0

Yes, get an NUS card, you pay something like £10 a month for 10-15% off places like Topman and other highstreet retailers.
If you don't want to pay for one you should get them through college!
Also, open a Natwest student account and you'll get things like railcards, tastecards etc. as a student.0 -

Nope! You can also get one if you're studying GCSEs in year 11 as long as you're 16.0 -
Unidays is the main route that websites use.0
