We've just been on a Haven holiday curtesy of Tesco Clubcard.:j
5 days before we went we received a letter offering us the chance to 'upgrade' to a brand new 2007 van for £40. (thats an upgrade to a brand new van not an upgrade in caravan standards).
Being MSE minded and given that this was supposed to be a free holiday we said 'go take a hike' - actually, we just threw it in the bin.
When we got there, lo and behold, we were still allocated a 2007 van - nice try haven but you have to try harder to catch us lot from MSE.COM. :rotfl:
I was just posting in case anyone happened to be having an off day when their letter appeared.;)
Also, we were booked in for a 4 star van and the label on the van door said it was silver (although they had removed the microwave which is one of the benefits of that standard ). However, when we got home, we looked at the website and it says that another plugged silver benefit was a 12ft rather than 10ft van. Our van was only 10ft. Obviously, being booked in for a 10fter, we didn't have grounds for complaint but if you are off to haven, it would pay to have the accomodation information with you in case you get put in a smaller than advertised van.
They also offer for hire Toasters at £10/week but Tesco do a Value one for just under £4 for 2 slice and £7 for 4 slice!!! So you could buy one and even if you ditch it, you are still quids in.
Don't know whether the same applies to other things available for hire (such as Microwave).
Oh, and don't be taken in (as if you would) by the constant sales pitch for owning a van - you know you'd regret it when you got home!!!

We got a 3 bed instead of a 2 bed this year! The caravan was 6 months old; we met the owners as they were staying after we left

We book gold caravans. The higher rating you book, the more you get, so toasters etc aren't an issue - the further in advance you book, the cheaper it is, without fail. We paid £176 this year, booked slightly earlier last year and paid £160 - when we were on site this year, we could have booked the same week exactly a year ahead for £110! Haven does not get any cheaper for last minute breaks, from what I can see

Hi,
Sorry to slightly hijack post, but I have just started with Clubcard and received this morning a voucher saying £6.50 on it. Now my clubcard receipt at the bottom shows a number much much less than it was
Am I supposed to save up all these blue tokens I get through?
Thanks:staradmin:staradmin:staradmin:staradmin:staradmin0 -
stacey21, YES!!! Keep them! Your statement drops because they've issued you with the vouchers. It's the vouchers you save for the deals

Thanks! I'm a bit new to all this... remember years ago my dad just used to get the blue vouchers through and use them as bribes for me to get a magazine or something!!
Where can I get info on the deals available? Is there something like the £6.50 ive got (which I dont think is a lot in comparison to some of yours! lol) actually is x by 4 when I go for a deal?
Sooo confusing!
p.s sorry again for hijacking!:staradmin:staradmin:staradmin:staradmin:staradmin0 -
Stacey, you normally get a deals brochure in with your clubcard statement, otherwise they usually have them in store or you can order one from the website.
http://www.tesco.com/clubcard/deals/ All the info is here as well. You can exchange as little as £2.50 in vouchers. Your £6.50 is worth £26 in deals
I saved mine for two years and had £1000 to put towards a kitchen
They don't do that one any more. Everything that is supposed to be in heaven is already here on earth.

We chose the cheapest option after rejecting van standard that allowed pets - we didn't see much point in paying an extra £40+ just to get a microwave which is what it seemed to be and we weren't interested in upgrading for a DVD/video player.
