Remove boiler timeswitch when installing thermostat?

Hi,
I have a Vaillant Turbomax Pro boiler and am planning to install a new wireless thermostat, the boiler currently has a built-in Vaillant timeswitch.
When I install the new thermostat do I have to remove the existing timeswitch and cover this with a blanking plate, or can I leave the timeswitch in without it interfering with the thermostat?
I ask because I'm dead tight and would rather not get shafted to the tune of £8 for a manky looking used blanking plate from eBay :-)

Does the timer have an "always on" setting?0

Yes, the CH and DHW can both be set to off, on or timed.0

What does the wireless thermostat talk to?0

The wireless stat (a Netatmo) comes with a box which is wired into the boiler.0

You will need the timer for the HW. Just set the HW to timed say 10 to 11 am and 8pm to 12 midnight, and the CH to always (on or alway off in the summer)Do you want your money back, and a bit more, search for 'money claim online' - They don't like it up 'em Captain Mainwaring0

The hot water is only used on demand, so I've never actually set the timer to control it (there's no hot water storage)0

So it is a Combi then. Why do you want to remove the time switch? If you do, the boiler will/may never switch on unless you contrive to rearrange the wiring to be always on. If you do this you will be controlling the boiler on a thermostat 24 hours per day. Just install the wireless thermostat and connect the box that comes with the Netamo into the thermostat connections on the boiler as per the instructions that - presumably - also come with the Netamo.0

At the risk of appearing obvious - a thermostat is a thermostat & a timeswitch is a timeswitch, so why do you feel the need to replace one with the other?
One dictates which times the boiler will be on and able to fire up if required, the other regulates it's activity to achieve a required temperature during the enabled on period....
Or do you actually mean "programmer", not timeswitch - which is something else entirely.0
