Private Parking Appeals - Terrible Service

Hi All,

Newbie here, I currently have appeals running with Private Parking Appeals as I thought I would have a higher chance of success if I used a 'professional' company. .

The experience I have had is terrible, no communication and no response to emails at the info@ email address.

Is anyone on this forum associated with this company? I now have two more tickets to appeal but really do not want to use them, and I am concerned as to the progress of my current appeals.

Are there any links to POPLA appeal templates I can use, I've looked through the forums and there seems to be a wide range of templates that people are using.

Thanks in advance

DR

thats PTAS, the OP said PPAL, which is accessed by places like parking cowboys etc

yes there are 3 or 4 regulars on here that run PPAL, so maybe one of them will pm the OP and sort it out

I dont think PPAL is taking on new cases at the moment, certainly not any IPC cases, but check their site for details

when we get complaint threads on here about PPAL, people like 4cr usually help the person involved

PTAS ceased trading around feb2015 , PPAL were taking on cases up until the Beavis verdict I think
    Enquiry form

NOTICE: Private Parking Appeals Ltd are not currently accepting any enquiries in the wake of the Beavis Vs ParkingEye case at the Supreme Court.
If you currently have an open case with PPA Ltd, they will continue to deal with it. Please use the contact form to get in contact with PPA.
as for popla appeals, due to the recent Beavis outcome there are very few appeals that are current, but CM has linked a couple in the NEWBIES sticky thread, which is where the OP should be looking for advice

and NO, there are no POPLA templates (and no IAS templates either), never have been, only examples of appeals people have already drafted

Thanks for your help Redx, I will see if I get a message from 4cr. If there are very few current POPLA appeals, what could be happening with mine that is currently in the system do you think? I have not had an update from PPAL and have no way of checking the status as I do not have the password for the POPLA site.

With regards to new tickets, I have 3 I need to appeal, how would the outcome of the Beavis case affect my chances of being successful? It is better to pay the £50 or appeal to POPLA, give PPAL aren't accepting new cases is this indicative of the chances of being successful now being lower?

    Thanks,

    DR

The whole thing is a cesspit, I will never advise OPs to use any of these mushroom companies.
You never know how far you can go until you go too far.
  • My one previous experience was good, this has been an absolute joke! Bad attitude from the person deals with my claims, no communication, no response to my emails, no way of accessing the POPLA website as they have the password and no idea whats going on with my appeal! I have a good mind to claim a refund from PayPal!

How did you manage to get 3 new tickets if you were aware that you could be "invoiced"?

Are you working on the assumption you can park anywhere but if you pay £15 you can get off them?

What are the details of the three and have you read the NEWBIE threads on what to do as you look like you'll be doing these yourself.

  • Hi,

My wife and I park at a station carpark, 5 times a week each and on occasion have forgotton to pay by phone due to rushing in the morning, dropping kids off at nursery etc. Not an excuse, but these things happen.

I have read the newbie thread and have appealed to the operator but they have been rejected, as expected. I have previously won at POPLA against this company using PPAL, but absolutely do not park anywhere and then just appeal the ticket. 4 tickets in 12 months with over 40 visits to the carpark every month between us.

Given the outcome of the Beavis case I wanted to understand if I should appeal or just pay the fine. If I lose its going to get very expensive!

    station carpark

Station Car parks are covered by Rail Bylaws so read the Rail threads to understand the issue.

    Which company has issued these?

You might want to open a new thread on each or all depending on what you want to do.

PS the NEWBIE thread was written by a PPAL person - as indeed was the Beavis case

That's one of the reasons PE were so adamant about winning. They can move the costs up so high that a greater % of drivers would just say, "Sod this its cheaper to just pay"
The fact that Beavis only affects a small number of cases does not stop them pretending it affects all.

And Beavis certainly does not apply to paid-for parking, and if they say it does they are lying.

Your strongest weapon here is the railway byelaws: these mean that Schedule 4 of the Protection of Freedoms Act does not apply so there is no keeper liability i.e. they can only pursue the driver, and they don't know who that was.

    As above, which company?
