Floor mounted boiler

How much extra is a Worcester over the cheapest boiler?
Also why does it need to be floor mounted? Boilers are much smaller these days and a wall mounted combi will fit into any cupboard.
Anyway Veissmann make excellent boilers according to WHICH and they are really quiet. The guarantee can be extended for 10 years.0 -
Worcester are about £1000.00 more than wall mounted boilers (even their own brand)
I need a floor mounted as I do not have an acceptable wall space.

25 years ago, a very good plumber/builder did a really good job squeezing a lot into a kitchen, hiding the Potterton Kingfisher floor standing boiler. Thank god it never broke down, because the zone valves and wiring centre were barely accessible.
To relocate the damned thing, would require ripping out half the kitchen. So, obviously I replaced it with another floor standing one. Two recent repairs proved problematic, and the engineers nearly refused to work on the zone valves.
If at all possible, keep the old boiler going, and then do the whole kitchen, with a wall mounted boiler.0 -
A wall mounted boiler does not have to be mounted high up. I know several that are mounted low down inside a kitchen cupboard.0

Thanks for all the replies, but I do not have the space for a wall mounted boiler it HAS to be floor standing.

What type of property do you have ? There may be other options - garage, loft ...Never pay on an estimated bill. Always read and understand your bill0

Property is an end terrace cottage. Boiler currently situated in under stair cupboard, venting onto outside wall which is a public path, so under current regulations cannot be put there.
Kitchen although massive, also has one outside wall onto public path, wall to rear garden has 3 windows and door so no space for wall mounted boiler.
Upstairs (including loft) is not an option, due to the pitch of the roof, and lack of wall space to give the required clearance. There is no other place to site the boiler other than on the floor in the kitchen.
