Q. Do you spend close to your limit every month ? If not why do you want a bigger limit. At the end of the day, it is too easy to get in it debt, a lot harder to get out of debt. You should only use your credit card for what you can afford.0

I use it mainly for booking hotels for work and trains etc
Normally when I book into hotels they take the room money then put a hold on my card which is there for 7 days.
If I'm travelling a lot with work then it's better to have a higher limit so I can keep using the card.0 -
I pay what I use back in full every month and never leave a balance.
So no interest etc0 -

Actually, a limit increase which is not used decreases the percentage of credit used which in turn makes you less of a risk than before. Depends on whether the increase takes you over the overall limit which lenders think is your maximum which is arbitrary and differs from lender to lender.
@sarahlou29xxx what you have in your credit report is a reputation for avoiding interest0 -
I have a couple of "prime" credit cards (Halifax and Sainsburys Mastercards) and a Barclays Platinum BT card - I lowered my limit from the Halifax from £8850 to £3000 and the Sainsburys from £3300 to £2000 ahead of applying for the BT card so I could get some interest free period to pay off a couple of big purchases - that was 14-15 months ago, I don't go close to my limit on the Halifax card. They wrote to me last week and said they were upping the limit to £3500 out of the blue. I pay off in full every month.
Sam Vimes' Boots Theory of Socioeconomic Unfairness:
People are rich because they spend less money. A poor man buys $10 boots that last a season or two before he's walking in wet shoes and has to buy another pair. A rich man buys $50 boots that are made better and give him 10 years of dry feet. The poor man has spent $100 over those 10 years and still has wet feet.

Not bad considering I only got it 7 months ago.
Nice. I am more interested in getting my Halifax credit limit increased from £500 for higher cash withdrawal limit overseas. Shall give it a few months.

Correct, it's just some of these others seem to be raising it after 4 months or so, capital one seem very tight when it comes to increases.0
