what are their opening hours on a bank holiday?
  • Hehe...just bagged three packs of these (no not for Ebay, but for relatives in South America that we're visiting in December) .

Microsoft VX300 twin pack, scanning at £5.98 (should be £59.98).....

    ...thanks OP!

    Not without a fight though...

A PC World female employee went to get them for me out the back & gave them to me, but then a minute or two later came up to me & said the manager had just told her that they couldn't let me have them. Some old tosh about them being recalled cos they're *all* faulty (yeah right, more like cos PC World have mispriced them!).

So I asked to call central customer services from the shop...which they let me do. Central Customer services were fine (ie nothing on their system about a product recall), until the Customer Services lady spoke to the PC world shop worker. After that, no way could I have 'em. I then bluffed (as the shop worker listened on) & asked her to escalate & gave out my mobile phone number to the central customer services on the phone & then hung up. Told the floor worker that she was going to escalate & calll me back. I said I'd wait on the call back. (teehee)

As soon as she got waylaid dealing with someone else I went & paid (cash) at the checkout tills....£4.98 each per pack (each pack has two top notch webcams!).

    As far as I'm concerned...

    1. They shouldn't have allowed me to reserve & collect if they're recalled. (1hr30 round trip for nothing?)
    2. It shouldn't allow me to pay at the checkout if the product is being recalled.

    I win...they lose.

  • Went to my local store this afternoon as showing as in stock online. Non on shelf so staff assistant went in back and came out with a handful.

i went straight to the till and without scanning them the cashier said "I think we have taken these off sale" He scanned them and came up at £5.98. He said "Yes these have been taken off sale as they should be £59.98, an email went round all stores yesterday" I asked why have they got them on display now then and was told they were all removed yesterday. Yes the sales assistant got them out from the store room. I was told that i wasnt allowed to buy it. Not very happy. O

Off i went to another store that was showing them as in stock. Shelves were empty. asked member of staff - was told sorry we have taken them off sale due to a price error.

Its a real shame really - god knows what would have happened if i had reserved online.

I assume that as of tomorrow you will be seeing them back on the shelves once they update the systems

    So close yet soooo far.

My PC World 'checkout till operative', looked as though she'd just been taught yesterday how to use a scanner & therefore was in no solid position to start questioning the validity of prices. :D

The kicker here was as I tried to leave discreetly/quickly, the darned alarm went off & I had to return to the till!

Yipee managed to get one in Stockport. Checked the shelves but none to be seen then just noticed one remaining right at the back of the shelf with a price ticket of £59.98 so instead of being embarrassed at the checkout I went to the customer service desk and asked for a price check, as soon as the guy seen the price on the screen I knew I had cracked it, he had to look twice, he says its coming up at £5,98 so he says I am going to get one aswell, anyway I took it the dimmest check out lad paid cash and got the little beauts for £5.98, Best bargain of the day.
