Where to go for camera (DSLR) insurance?

So I was looking at travel insurance and saw that they seem to have fairly low limits on individual items. I went to check my camera insurance to see if I could get that to cover me and lo and behold, I've been paying Domestic & General soley for accidental breakage cover for the past year (especially dumb as that's already covered by an extended warantee).
Lucky for me it hasn't been stolen or lost! But anyone have any suggestions on cover for it that will include loss and theft? Especially good would be something that also included world travel as I tend to go abroad a fair bit.
It's a Canon EOS 400D with an extra lens and bag worth about £650 in total now and about £100 worth of storage media.
Cheers for any help!

Hi there,
we have ended up with a lot of kit and the best cover we could find was with insure and go.. their highest level (black iirc) should cover your Canon.. probably not the cheapest insurer around, but excellent service when we had to claim from them for a stolen wallet..

my camera equipment is insured under photoguard, you get leaflets for them in most photography mags. Seem fairly reasonable, but they say that i'm only covered if someone actually takes the equipment off me. Not e.g if accidetally leave something behind or in my case if I'm carrying 2 dslrs, rucksac and a tripod it's sometimes comical using the ladies! I know I can't just leave it by the sinks etc. I have 30 days abroad cover, but you can probably extend that.
To be honest tho' I've just thought if you're not using your camera for work, you might be better off insuring it as one item on your house insurance. They do general +1 item of eg £1000 policies. Camera and lens is one item.
Hope this helps0 -
my own equipment (worth around £5k) isn't insured as a specific item.
But when i go on holiday because each item is worth no more than £2k (i think) then my home contents policy covers it.
My car insurance covers it, if it is in my car, locked away out of sight.
When i renewed my contents insurance i specifically asked about my gear and the value of it and was told quite clearly that because any individual item is not worth more than the limit of the policy, then it would be covered. I even explained that the whole lot was together in a bag and the lenses must be used together with the body but the woman was quite clear it would be covered.
Josephine - "Camera and lens is one item" - not true in my case so it obviously depends on the insurer and the policy you have. Definitely worth clarifying exactly what "an item" is though.
Keen photographer with sales in the UK and abroad.
Willing to offer advice on camera equipment and photography if i can!0 -

Provided you have adequate Personnel Possesions cover (i.e. at least £5000), and it isnt for business usage then you should be fine. The single item limit will depend on your policy.0
