As you hold a FlexDirect account, you do qualify.
Poster does not hold one currently, as intimated by the "year out". However he probably should consider getting another, even though it may only pay 1% AER, for access to the reg saver.

Is it still necessary to fill in a R85 for non taxpayers bearing in mind the interest will be paid in the next tax year?

Its another good option and certainly worth considering. However, by my calcs assuming basic rate tax this account works out to 2.2% annual equivalent. I believe the 6% monthly saver options work out slightly better in terms of annualised rate post tax - roughly 2.5% for 1stD. If I had the 6k available as a lump sum i'd still put it in a 5% current account, then 4% Club Lloyds if 5%ers maxed.
Please don't start confusing matters in what was a very good thread.

The rate is 5%. You get that for everything in the account, you don't get interest on money not in the account.
Remember the saying: if it looks too good to be true it almost certainly is.

I filled one out anyway. This can now be done online with Nationwide, rather than by post.

This is good. Can't find where to open it though - finally get to a page that says 'Apply' and then it's not on the list of things I can apply for.

I imagine it'll be ready in the morning.
Gave a 'technical error' earlier but works now - applied from main product page, said I was existing customer, it made me login, and then it presented me with list of accounts I could apply for with that one at or near the top. (this is as a customer with a normal flexaccount meeting the monthly deposit criteria)

    Thanks OP.

Anyone else notice that once logged in and viewing the range of saving accounts with the 'open' symbol next to them, that the Flexclusive Saver is advertised as a 'Cash ISA'? You need to click on the little '+' symbol/expand icon to see it.

Why can't they offer a decent paying savings account for long term customers ? £500 a month only, for 12 months then it reverts to their other minimal paying account.
I don't want to be swopping n changing n moving money all the time, just want a decent interest paying savings account for long term.

The thread is still very good and my post was not to confuse but to clarify for those that may be less 'clued up' than your good self.
  • I've just opened it, and moved £500 to it but it doesn't show in my list of accounts, anyone else having that problem?

I am afraid, the one not clued up is yourself.

The AER of this account is 5%, not some other number that you pulled out of thin air.

As JJ said, you will of course only get the interest on money that is in the account.
