18866/1899/1363 Access Problem

After moving house and getting a new number; to the house and me, I can no longer access 18866/1899 or the new Talk talk 1363, I am being blocked by this message :- "there is not a fault, to regain access to indirect phone companies you must cease membership of the light user scheme or indirect plus", it then gives a free phone No to call which is a BT custamer service No. I didn't sign up for the schemes mentioned on our old No or this new one. BT confirm that we aren't or never have been a member of these schemes. I suspect a conspiracy, anybody any ideas?.

Have you taken over an existing number though, perhaps the previous owner was on the Light User scheme.0

It definitely sounds like a BT problem and not Call18866, etc. Have BT confirm that you are on the BT Together Option 1 package for £10.50 per month (£11.50 if not paying by direct debit). If you are then threaten to BT that you will take it further and complain to OFCOM etc as they are blocking you from using indirect access codes which they are not allowed to do if you are on one of their BT Together Option 1, 2 or 3 packages.0

As posted on another thread, I have a similar problem with BT. However, it doesn't affect my access to 1899, etc. I'm currently paying my call charges through OneTel (but have signed up for a transfer over to Tesco). I pay my line rental to BT. I recently tried to change my line rental over to Homecall, only to be sent a letter from Homecall informing me that they can't take me on as BT provide me with a service they can't match: namely the Light User Scheme. Funny thing about this is that BT turned me down over a year ago for the LUS as I was routing my calls through another company. Seems that BT has now put me on the LUS in order to stop me moving my line rental away from them (that or they are telling porkies to Homecall). My last bill from them for line rental was definitely not for a LUS deal! I'll eventually get around to calling BT about it to find out exactly what's happened, and why they told Homecall that I was on the LUS.In a rut? Can't get out? Don't know why?
It's time to make that change.

Just as an aside, I wouldn't recommend this 1363 service as the call charges on the free package are dearer than 18866/1899 and it only gets cheaper if you pay for a package.

I also have to ask what are you going to be paying to Tesco for your phone calls? Is it the monthly charge of around a fiver? If so you really would be better going with TalkTalk or Onetel for their free w/end UK calls and using 18866 for any other calls with just the 2p connection charge.0 -
I agree with Edinburghlass, Tesco charge 2.5p per minute for daytime calls compared to Call18866 that charge 2p per call. Tesco's monthly fees are more expensive than OneTel's and I think TalkTalk's. OneTel don't have any limit on the length of their free weekend calls and have a 60min length on their evening/weekend calls.
See TescoTalk for info on their tariffs, or OneTel for info on their tariffs. Both TescoTalk & OneTel have free directory enquiries calls to their own DQ service.0 -

Nah, it's the free package (Talk 1 - pay as you go). Why did I swap? Because they're giving me 1000 club card points to swap for three months. Although I'm currently paying Onetel for one of their packages, I don't actually use them. I route all my normal phone calls through Call1899.com (now free apart from a 2p connection fee per call to uk landlines) - that is when I'm not using my inclusive minutes on my mobile. I'm fed up with paying Onetel for a service I don't use, so thought £10 of clubcard points for switching to another service I won't actually be using is ok with me.
I signed up in store - the bloke bribed me with the 1000 club card points. In a rut? Can't get out? Don't know why?

Couldn't use 18866 this morning for about 20 mins. Thought they had gone belly-up or something, but it all seems to be working OK again now, thank goodness :T
Anyone else had problems ?"0844 COSTS YOU MORE"0 -

Anyone else had problems ?
That's happened to me once or twice but it clears after a while. I put it down to too many people wanting to save money.Their - possessive pronoun (owned by them e.g. "They locked their car").
They're - colloquial/abbreviated version of 'They are'
There - noun (location other than here e.g. "You can buy groceries there") OR adverb (in or at that place e.g. "They have lived there for years") OR adverb (to or towards that place e.g. "Go there at noon") OR adverb (in that matter e.g. " I agree with you there").0
