Combined postage discount does not apply when checking out

I'm trying to purchase 4 - 5 items from the same seller and the advertised postage is £5 each then £2.50 for each additional item. Well, when I going to check out, it's charging me £25 postage! I've sent seller an email but needing to check out today, as items finishing in 3 hours. I'm happy to pay, for as long as I know that I'll get it back. Any advice please? Thanks

Ok, so one of the listing says each additional item is free, the next one is £2 and the other 3 say £2.50. They are all the same type of item, just different designs, same weight etc but there is no consistency within listings

I was looking at listings by one seller a little while back. 3 of the same item type, pretty much same weight and shape just different design and each one had a different combined postage offer.
When I put them in the basket it didn't give me any discount at all. £14 (minus a few pence) postage for 3 items! Wouldn't be so bad (they're not the lightest items) if the items weren't already over-priced. Having said that, I think they've lowered the prices a little recently because they were around £15 over-priced without postage included. Now they're just over-priced by the cost of the postage.
Very annoying though that the postage offer is different on each one. I'd be tempted to buy if one of the offers worked with 2 or 3 of the items. Can't understand why any seller would do that, they may as well not bother having any offer.
Not sure you can do anything other than wait for a reply and hope they sort out a postage discount.0 -
Thanks Flyonthewall, the total is already coming to £200 plus postage, so really can't afford to pay more than I have to. Each item weight is 500g, and the postage advertised is economy, so on my guess collect + or MyHermes. Hopefully some business seller can shed some light on that0

Maybe they listed them at different times and changed the postage offer, but haven't updated all listings? Or they just want to appear as though they're willing to discount and look good when really you can't get a discount as they're different (or perhaps can only get each offer with a very limited number of - possibly random - items).
Does seem silly though. I hope the seller gets back to you quickly and resolves the issue!0 -
I know so do I, I'm buying on a behalf of a family member abroad and really don't want to disappoint them nor pay over the odds for postage. They've made their choice and are quite excited about getting those items now.
The seller specialises in those items, they have a shop with a nearly 1000 listings (different variations of the same / similar item), so it's not like it's totally random items. Seller also has an offer of some money off some of those items, maybe for cyber Monday, not sure, but it's like they are giving you with one hand and taking it away with another.0 -
Maybe they hope buyers won't realise. Many see an offer and think nothing more of it other than that they believe they're getting a good deal when in fact they're not.0

So I've done a little test and the postage in my basket works if I add 2 of the same item but obviosly not across the range, which that's how it usually should work, isn't it?0

But then when I choose a different colour from the same listings, it adds on another fiver. Grrr! Honestly, surely they'll refund me, either that or they'll lose a two hundred pound sale

Yeah. It should work on everything that has the same postage offer. So two exactly the same should work. They've obviously got it set up differently for other colours though for some odd reason.
Can never be sure with ebay sellers, but if they're smart they'll sort the discount out/refund. They're obviously not going to lose out with doing so if they can do the discount offer on another colour.0
