Aqua Credit Card Application

Options
I am considering applying for an Aqua Start card as I have no credit history whatsoever.
I get my wages paid into a savings account and I would use my current account details for my application.
My question is: As I do not get my salary paid into my current account (I only transfer money from my savings account) will this affect my application or cause it to be rejected?
I have asked someone on the helpline who then asked someone else and they didn't know.
Please help!

  • It will have no impact.
  • Thanks for the quick reply; is there a reason why this would have no effect?
  • Because you still have an income to your name.

  • I see, thank you for clearing that up.
Do all credit card card companies ask for bank account number and sort code and if so, can they take money from your current account in any circumstance?
  • No. It's to confirm you have a bank account and as part of the ID check. You need to set up a DD for them to take money, which will always be in line with your agreement.
  • Great! Thanks very much :)

I've personally found it does matter. whenever I've used my 'bill paying account' as the 'current' not he form I've been rejected. but when i put in my wages one, even though I transfer it, I get accepted...

unless it's a nationwide thing, as as someone else has posted. nationwide accounts don't show up on some/most credit reports.

Wages and Salary are two different things by the way.
Why do you have your pay paid into a savings account when you hold a current account? This arrangement makes no real sense to me. If you ever wanted an overdraft, for example, you will never get one on the savings account.
  • Have you tried the eligibility calculator for credit cards on here?

Aqua Start does have a very high interest rate, 49.9% which is very high even for a sub prime card. Check that you are not eligible for one with at least a lower interest rate.

Have you done the Capital One pre eligibility check? Their interest rates are usually lower than the Aqua Start one.

    Good luck.
