What happens if I pay my energy bill a month late?
Options
Hi,
Basically we are totally screwed this month and can't afford to pay our energy bill but can definitely afford to pay it at the end of the month...
But will they let us do that or will they cut us off?? We really have no money as my partner moved in and tax credits etc claims haven't gone through yet, we have £900,
£480 rent. £150ishcouncil tax, and £200 energy bill..
Not sure if this is in the right place but if there anyway we can put off paying it? Partner gets a large bonus at the end of the month and we can definitely pay it then

Ring them up and ask.0

Hardly anyone ever gets cut off these days.If you continue to miss payments and build up a debt they will most likely steer you to prepayment meters or a repayment monthly plan on top of your current dd. If you do end up with prepayment meters you will miss out on all the excellent one year fixes available only to credit meters, so not a good move.0

If you are with one of the suppliers that report to the CRAs you could end up with a late payment marker.0

You may also be moved onto a more expensive plan. (The terms and conditions of your account should make clear if this will happen.)0

As Stevie says - ring up and ask. Is this a bill or a regular payment?
If it is a whole bill, could you switch to DD - it's usually cheaper and then you can spread the cost instead of an occasional big bill.0
