Question (Northern Ireland ?)

Options
Question for the Northern Ireland Members ...Do any off you who have Oil Heating keep it on all the time turned down low ?
I have an old house with an old boiler it has been serviced and works well there is no Thermosat inside my house just one on the boiler
I can light the fire but its burning money just heats the 1 room and the minute the door openes the heat is out ...energy ways would it make more sense instead of putting the heating on and off to keep it on low all the time ?

Hi, I did this several years back, the boiler never went off, just dropped to about 30C. Results were inconclusive. It was nice to have the bit of background heat during the night, and warm up time was quick. However, I think it used more oil, possibly it's like keeping your car ticking over so there's no warm up time. Also, when the temp dropped to 30C, it robbed the heat from the water in the hot tank.
  • I don't even think my settings goes to 30c the lowest is 60c yikes !

I didn't have a 30C setting, I added a second thermostat which came into use when the time clock turned off.
