Motability Car Grant - Advice sought

I've been fortunate enough to have been given a grant towards the AP on a new motability car. The problem I have is that the version of the car I have decided to purchase, which was also suggested by the grants team, is being updated with a better engine and auto gearbox which will make it cheaper to run. I can order it now in the old spec, or wait until the new quarter when the new version will most likely have replaced it. The salesman does not know what the AP will be for the updated version so do I wait until the new quarter and hope the updated model AP is the same or place my order now in the knowledge that whilst I will be ordering the old version, I won't have to worry about finding any extra to cover the difference between the grant and the AP. Any advice is welcomed.

Unless you're doing big mileages, a few mpg won't really matter IMO.
The cost of a 15% difference in fuel consumption will be at most £200 a year with most cars at 10000 miles a week, as a rough guide.💙💛 💔1
