plumbing help please

Options
in true ms fashion i have changed the syphon in my toilet all by myself.
i was so proud of myself until...
now i cannot seem to reattach the water inlet pipe without causing a small leak.
i have tightened every single bit and taken them all on and off all day.
also everytime i tighten things it moves the ballcock assembly about and it needs to be at a very particular angle...

what am i doing wrong?

You need to change the little red fibre washer on the inlet between the ballvalve and the swivel connector (the brass nut that screws on). Ifyou don't have one of these which is likely the alternative is to wrap ptfe tape around the little spigot inside the brass nut this should resolve your leak.

Is it a side entry or bottom entry valve?

There should be a cone shaped waher between the inlet valve and cistern if it is bottom entry, is this in position correctly.

You can see how to fit a ball valve assembly here-
