LCS Chase letters

Hello,
I have recently received two chase letters from LCS, acting on behalf of E.ON for a debt of £295.85. Both letters I have received are addressed to me, in my current flat. However, the debt is for an address, six floors below me and a property I have never occupied in my life.
I have not responded to any of the letters, as it is not my debt. I am also not sure how they have obtained my name and linked it to a property I have never lived in. I obviously have proof I didn't live at the property they state in their letters, as I have my tenancy agreement for my current flat, which clearly shows the dates I signed and moved into my flat.
The letters carry the usual threats "this will be recorded on your credit file" and "further action will be taken" but how can a debt, which I do not owe, from a flat I have never lived in, be noted on my credit file?
I'm sure I will receive further letters soon, with more threats.
My question is, should I just ignore them or contact them to dispute? I'm just not keen in giving my personal details to a company, who frankly, are a bunch of w@*kers.
Any advice would help.
Many thanks.

Hi,
You might be better served contacting EON about this, rather than LCS.
Get them to confirm in writing that you are not the person they are after, ask them to call off the dogs, but also send a copy of the letter to LCS yourself, also add that any derogatory information recorded on your credit file will result in an official complaint which will be followed through to the financial ombudsman if nessessary.
Some times a little leg work, can result in staving off bigger problems, and although this is not your debt, it could prove to be troublesome if you don't nip it in the bud.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the Debt free wannabe, Credit file and ratings, and Bankruptcy and living with it boards. Good morning Kojo1 and welcome to the forum,
I agree with sourcrates as you have your tenancy agreement and all the relevant paper work, contact us to let us know, it sounds like a mistake and we've added your name to an account incorrectly.
You can attach your agreement to an email and we can make the changes to the account, you can do it via the website.
Please don't just leave it as we need to get things right and make sure the correct bills are going to the correct place, flat's can and do get mixed up sometimes, but we can sort it out.
Then we can also let LCS know.
Thank you

Hi Helena,
I have sent a copy of the LCS letter and my Tenancy to the email.queries@eonenergy.com, through the eon website.
Thanks0 -
Hope you don't mind me stopping by Kojo but Helena's not in the office at the moment. Thanks very much for sending us your documents. I'm sure we can sort this out from these. The email address you've used is in a different area to us. I've just checked and they're currently responding within 48 hours so you should have an answer fairly soon.
Thanks again for emailing Kojo.
