What a foolish post, Colsten. Had you not understood that I was replying with respect to the OP's nominated account?

You may call it foolish to point out that there are better alternatives. I call it helpful.

But you weren't - in either aspect of your petulant posting (being relevant, being constructive). Look at YB's posting of 4:32 - which did what you didn't without the irrelevant claptrap.

What a gracious and courteous individual you are, polymaff. Colsten should certainly try to learn from your example of how to conduct oneself when posting here.

You never answer any of my questions, so I've decided to stop answering yours. :)

Make sure you close the accounts or you not be eligible for future savings account offers in one years time. We didn't and suffered.

Just to add to this comment that you don't necessarily have to close the account in order to get the 5% interest again a year later.

As YorkshireBoy has already mentioned, you could change the FD account to a FA and benefit from UK/European travel insurance. 12 months later you change the FA to a FD in order to get 5% interest again (if it's still available, of course).
