Make sure you close the accounts or you not be eligible for future savings account offers in one years time. We didn't and suffered.
Just to add to this comment that you don't necessarily have to close the account in order to get the 5% interest again a year later.
As YorkshireBoy has already mentioned, you could change the FD account to a FA and benefit from UK/European travel insurance. 12 months later you change the FA to a FD in order to get 5% interest again (if it's still available, of course).:grouphug:Official MSE canny forumite and HUKD VIP badge member
