    At my old work they fitted winter tyres to the whole fleet about 4/5 years ago.

    They were all the same size as normal, they actually had extra alloys purchased for the winters on cars and new steel wheels for the other vehicles.

    People do it to save money

    There is no reason to do so.

    People tend to fit winter tyres for safety reasons not asthetic reasons.

    And the cheapest way to end up with two sets of wheels is by having the winters in a smaller wheel size, such as that fitted to the low end models in a particular vehicle range.
