Does anyone know when the increase in the cost of renewing a passport comes into force. Also, is it possible to apply to renew now if the passport expires in ~August 2008.

You can renew your passport at any time, irrespective of when the renewal date is. You can also carry over up to a maximum of 9 months onto a new passport so if you apply before the price increase your 10yr passport will actually be valid for 10yrs 9mths.0

You can renew whenever you like, but only a maximum of 9 months will be carried forward. If you apply just before the price goes up then you will lose about a month which is about £6 - same as the increase!
Just renewed ours and it took about a week to come through.0 -
Many thanks for the information. Most helpful.0
