How would you invest 150k?

I wouldn't use it to put myself £300,000 in debt with a property purchase unless you were already planning a London house purchase.0

I understand US. Why Japanese though?
Amongst other factors: Trans-Pacific Free Trade Deal.
My Japan investment is up around 30% this year.
Edit. I just checked and it is actually 41%.
But you should note that it represents only 5% of my portfolio - one small basket with just a single egg in it.I am one of the Dogs of the Index.0 -
The Japan play is also interesting due to the YEN might appreciate.
If you believe in cycles, sterling is high, yen is low, so how is it likely to go?
Even if the underlying asset does not perform, the yen rising will be worth a punt.
Watch out for funds that are Far East, EXCLUDING Japan.
Egg on your face if you find out too late.

I want somewhere to live in, but I may move to another country (ok I will rent it that way) and also it 's a waste to live in a 2bed alone. And renting out a room decreases much my quality of life, without offering me a good profit. Plus too much hassle to find quality tenants, it's risky and they usually leave within 6 months.0

Why not just buy meatballs and treat yourself to the full head of hair you've been hankering after.
Oh, and maybe some training in how to use Google so that you can look up your own train ticket prices?

Would that beat buying a flat outside London?
No, not if you were to live in said flat, and commute, therefore not paying rent.
I would say, the best place for 150K is paying off debt, having a cash emergency float and buying a property (ie use ot for deposit). Plus pension if any left over.
If you already have a property, id' say in addition to the above, youd want to fill your S&S isa allowance, then use up this years ad any previous years pension allowance.0
