why don't 'small' builders enter the market
Most either went bust or found other activities to fill their time. Same for the skilled workers. Although we live in a 24/7 world. The reality is to make a significant difference to anything requires years of investment and planning. Not simply the flick of a switch.0 -

Yes correct industries and sectors don't change very rapidly unless there is very high profit or subsidy. However a more sustainable 20% annual grow is still rapid
at 20% annual growth the UK can go from about 140k per year to 350k new builds per year within 5 years
We don't really need to ramp up faster than that.0 -

The trouble is, there aren't many second homes where the jobs are.0 -

There are second homes in every town and city in the land, it just takes one half of a couple to keep their flat they had when they were single and "just rent it out" to make many many second homes that will be taxed to the max in the coming years.0 -

Those are not second 'homes', how could they be? It is the home of the tenant, those are second properties, not second homes. Second homes are usually holiday homes, although they could of course be a pied-a-terre.Chuck Norris can kill two stones with one birdThe only time Chuck Norris was wrong was when he thought he had made a mistakeChuck Norris puts the "laughter" in "manslaughter".I've started running again, after several injuries had forced me to stop0 -

Well, exactly. Second homes are homes you keep empty for your own use, usually somewhere scenic. These tend to be places where work is casual, seasonal, low-paying or all of the above.
It says a lot about some people that they can make a category error of this nature yet still feel competent to hold an opinion on, well, anything.0 -

So the HMRC clampdown on people with second properties that take in rent, for past due taxes as well, will have no effect, it won`t mean many many properties going on the market in places where the jobs are?0
