Alliance and Leicester Old Loan with PPI

I remember having two loans with A&L in the late 90s, the problem I have is I don't have copies of any account numbers.

Would there be any point in writing to Santander querying PPI?

If you were mis-sold then of course you should. If you were not mis-sold then no.

  • I was young and needed the loan, they left me with the impression that I needed the ppi to get the loan.

how would I go about this without account numbers?

    thanks

    thanks

    1) your own records
    2) ring them up and ask if they have any records left
    3) if front line staff can't see it, a £10 DSAR to see what they have left

If you and they don't have any records it's a non-starter. You can't prove your complaint reason and most PPI complaints say the salesman said they had to have it, it's a generic complaint and largely moot as it won't be documented.

Sam Vimes' Boots Theory of Socioeconomic Unfairness:

People are rich because they spend less money. A poor man buys $10 boots that last a season or two before he's walking in wet shoes and has to buy another pair. A rich man buys $50 boots that are made better and give him 10 years of dry feet. The poor man has spent $100 over those 10 years and still has wet feet.

If you were over 18 that is not relevant

    Nor is that

That might be but you need to demonstrate that this was the case for it to be upheld on those grounds.

Any documentation you have which proves your assertion is likely to have it - but if you have no such assertion, you are facing an uphill battle before you start.

You could ask Santander but it may no longer have records.
