    I would definitely check the electoral role and make sure you're meeting the requirements of the account you need. Some need certain amount of DDs to be transferred others don't.

    I got declined recently for a current account using the switching service - because I have just moved address it takes a while for the electoral role to update even after submitting the details. So whilst my credit rating is ok - good managing of credit i have, my address wasn't verified so I got declined. I used Noddle to check my credit report a couple weeks later to make sure nothing was wrong and it was as I thought - not on the electoral role was the only 'red' bit on my report (aka bad bit)

    thanks to all who replied , he didn't want an overdraft and got refused because he has insufficient credit history ??? oh well never mind he'll stick with first direct for now
