Anybody Know about iPod classic problems???
Had iPod classic 120GB for about 7/8 years
Few weeks ago it had red circle/cross...
I fixed it (Found tip/help from youtube)
Today I found out that I had a song missing from my iTunes (After work) so I added the song to iTunes I then synced my iPod to my Mac (Wanted song on my iPod).
It then said my iPod is corrupt and need restoring.
So I tried to restore it.
It failed and deleted all my songs off my iPod, So I then Unplugged/plugged my iPod into my Mac and it would connect but not sync after few tries it worked
I then tried again & the restore worked. I synced about 5,000 out of 10,000 songs half way through said cannot sync this song and stopped now it won't sync at all...
I just tried to restore it again (Hopefully will work this time) it's syncing now...
is my iPod on it's last legs....

Sounds like it - i had similar problems and basically the hard-drive was beginning to fail.
All was not lost through as i have replaced the hd myself with a flash card using the kit from https://www.tarkan.info and it now works really well (it also meant i could upgrade from 80 to 128GB).
The iPod is not easy to open without marking it but the actual replacement is easy as you just unplug the hd and fit the new kit, then do a restore.
Worth thinking about doing as I'm sure it will last forever now and i much prefer my old classic to the iPod touch and it is a shame to just chuck stuff away without at least trying to fix it - much cheaper than buying new stuff too!Mortgage free!
Debt free!
And now I am retired - all the time in the world!!0 -
Thanks I have put it on eBay and looking to get a new one0

I thought they had stopped making them towards the end of 2014.
I managed to get mine just in time.0 -

Good luck with that. My plan in September last year was to get smallest iphone 6 i could and an ipod classic, ordered the iphone then found out the ipod classic was discontinued and on gumtree/ebay etc people were getting £400+ for them.
Ipod Nano has 16GB biggest storage, and ipod touch 128GB is £329. I will wait for an upgrade (next autumn) and get a 128GB iPhone or something similar...
Cant help but feel envious of other brand's phones being micro SD card upgradable... I refuse to move though as all my stuff is apple with apple 30-pin or lightning connectors, including my sound bar, cable in my car, and my house network being all apple stuff to airplay...
Cue anyone telling im a fool for being locked in...0 -

They're not making them any more ....
For £100, you can get a FiiO X3, which will out-perform the Classic in audio terms (it plays back Hi-Res files), and, because its storage is on removable Micro SD cards, has no actual limit on storage...
It's a lot easier to move music to it (simply copy/paste, no need for software like iTunes, no need for tiresome Sync operations, not limited to one pairing of PC to player, etc.)0 -
Maybe this is the answer...

Is an ipod classic one of those massive things that people strap to their shoulders when they go to the gym? I always think how crazy to strap a hard drive to yourself when there are so many neater solutions. I suppose it could be considered part of the exercise.0
